{"id":2298,"date":"2025-09-05T10:04:51","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T10:04:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/?p=2298"},"modified":"2025-10-13T10:07:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T10:07:54","slug":"the-lebanese-environment-forum-launches-bahr-online-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/ar\/the-lebanese-environment-forum-launches-bahr-online-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"The Lebanese Environment Forum Launches \u201cBAHR\u201d Online Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"70\" data-end=\"527\">After a successful pilot phase, the <strong data-start=\"106\" data-end=\"142\">Lebanese Environment Forum (LEF)<\/strong> officially launched the <strong data-start=\"167\" data-end=\"177\">\u201cBAHR\u201d<\/strong> online platform \u2014 the first national initiative in Lebanon based on <strong data-start=\"246\" data-end=\"274\">citizen-based monitoring<\/strong> to track marine biodiversity.<br data-start=\"304\" data-end=\"307\" \/>This activity comes within the framework of the <strong data-start=\"355\" data-end=\"404\">Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) Network Project<\/strong>, implemented by LEF in collaboration with the <strong data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"477\">University of Balamand<\/strong> and with the support of the <strong data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"524\">European Union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"529\" data-end=\"842\">The launch workshop was held at <strong data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"589\">MUBS University \u2013 Badaro<\/strong>, in cooperation with the <strong data-start=\"615\" data-end=\"634\">Fishing Channel<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"656\">Vitamin Sea Club<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"658\" data-end=\"691\">Divers of Goodwill in Lebanon<\/strong>, as well as volunteers working in the fields of fishing, diving, and marine rescue, in addition to representatives from scientific research centers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"529\" data-end=\"842\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2294\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr.jpeg 1600w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-300x225.jpeg 300w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-768x576.jpeg 768w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-150x113.jpeg 150w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-696x522.jpeg 696w, http:\/\/www.lbeforum.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/atlak-mns-bhr-1068x801.jpeg 1068w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"844\" data-end=\"1209\">LEF President <strong data-start=\"858\" data-end=\"881\">Eng. Malek Ghandour<\/strong> opened the event with welcoming remarks, thanking all participants and collaborators for making this initiative possible. He emphasized that the partnership between civil society, universities, and local organizations forms the foundation for protecting Lebanon\u2019s sea and ensuring the sustainability of its natural resources.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1956\">Then, <strong data-start=\"1217\" data-end=\"1241\">Captain Omar Marchou<\/strong>, founder of the <strong data-start=\"1258\" data-end=\"1277\">Fishing Channel<\/strong>, delivered a speech expressing his gratitude to the organizers and participants. He highlighted that the \u201cBAHR\u201d platform represents a turning point as it enables the systematic and reliable collection of all marine observations in one place, enhancing their scientific value and supporting evidence-based environmental policymaking.<br data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1613\" \/>Marchou called on all \u201csea companions\u201d \u2014 including fishermen, divers, bird watchers, and sea lovers \u2014 to actively collaborate with the platform and report their observations, noting that the success of \u201cBAHR\u201d depends on the commitment of this key coastal community, which possesses daily, hands-on experience with the sea and its challenges.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1958\" data-end=\"2444\">The training session was moderated by <strong data-start=\"1996\" data-end=\"2020\">Mr. Bassam Al-Qantar<\/strong>, Strategic Communication and Advocacy Advisor at the <strong data-start=\"2074\" data-end=\"2132\">Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL)<\/strong>.
