On 4 November 2025, the Lebanese Environment Forum (LEF), in partnership with the Marine Protected Areas Network – Lebanon, the University of Balamand, and the European Union, held an online training session on “Methodologies for Assessing Estuaries”, using Nahr Ibrahim as a case study.

The training provided participants with practical insights into estuary assessment, covering step-by-step methodologies from basic to advanced techniques. Attendees learned how to effectively plan field studies while meeting administrative requirements, enhancing their capacity to conduct scientifically robust assessments of estuarine ecosystems.
The session aimed to strengthen local expertise, promote best practices in estuary monitoring, and support sustainable management of Lebanon’s freshwater and coastal ecosystems.
