Closing Event for Environment Fund for Lebanon Project

The Environment Fund Project held its final ceremony, on Wednesday 11 December 2013 under the auspices of Caretaker Environment Minister, Mr.  Nazem Khoury, at At Monroe Hotel, Ein El Mreiseh, Beirut. And under the patronage of Mr. Christian Clages, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany and Mr. Nabil Al-Jisr, President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction

Delivering a word during the event, Khoury explained the accomplishments of the fund that financed 30 institutions to carry out environmental projects in the country. He added that the project contributed to restricting environmental threats and the economic regression emerging from July War 2006.

And Dr. Lamia Mansour, EFL Team Leader, has presented EFL’s achievements from July 2007 to December 2013, which provided technical assistance to industrial enterprises in Lebanon for environmental investment plans. These plans were used as a basis for acquiring soft loans for implementation of environmental investments.

The Environmental Fund for Lebanon (EFL) funded by the German Government with a total budget of 8.5 million euros, implemented by the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and coordinated with the Council for Development and Reconstruction and the Ministry of Environment.
